Abstract
Prema podatcima Europske komisije, stupnjevi pretilosti su se drastično povećali unazad 40-ak godina, osobito u djece. Procjena broja pretile djece u EU 2006. godine je bila 30% od ukupnog broja djece, što se svodi na više od 23 milijuna djece, a broj se povećava svake godine. Stupanj uhranjenosti kod djece određuje se pomoću indeksa tjelesne mase (ITM). Indeks tjelesne mase je omjer težine u kilogramima i visine osobe u metrima na kvadrat. Pretilost se može prevenirati, a potrebno je baviti se tjelesnom aktivnošću i pravilno se hraniti. U ovom radu cilj je bio kroz podatke o tjelesnoj visini i težini djece, spolu te dobi, putem indeksa tjelesne mase predočiti stupanj uhranjenosti djece rane dobi i odrediti koji je postotak djece pretio. Ukupno je sudjelovao 51 polaznik DV „Videk“ iz Brdovca u dobi od 15 do 54 mjeseci te je prosječni ITM bio 15,86 kg/m2. Najviši ITM iznosio je 24,4 kg/m2 što za navedenu dob spada u kategoriju pretilosti. Postotak od gotovo 10% djece s prekomjernom tjelesnom masom ili pretile djece bio je dovoljan da zaključimo kako je potrebno poduzeti mjere za prevenciju pretilosti i da navedeni rezultati potvrđuju činjenicu o problemu pretilosti koji se javlja u sve ranijoj dobi kod djece.
Abstract (english)
According to the data from the European Commission, obesity rates have drastically increased over the past 40 years, especially in children. The estimated percentage of obese children in the EU in 2006 was 30% of the total number of children, equating to more than 23 million children, and this number continues to rise each year. The nutritional status of children is determined using the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is the ratio of weight in kilograms to height in meters squared. Obesity can be prevented by engaging in physical activity and maintaining a healthy diet. The aim of this study was to present the nutritional status of young children through data on their height, weight, gender, and age, using the Body Mass Index to determine the percentage of overweight or obese children. A total of 51 participants from the "Videk" kindergarten in Brdovec in the age of 15 to 54 months old took part, with an average BMI of 15.86 kg/m2. The highest BMI recorded was 24.4 kg/m2, which falls into the obesity category. The nearly 10% of children with excess body weight or obesity indicates the need for measures to prevent obesity, confirming the fact that the issue of obesity is emerging at a younger age in children.
