The role of the father has evolved and changed throughout history; from the breadwinner and provider of the family, pater familias and secondary parent to the equal wife and the parent involved. In sociology, the position of men has long been considered a norm that should not be questioned, so research on his involvement in educational activities and household chores has long been superficial. Feminist perspectives problematized the position of men in the family, and the sociology of childhood raised the question of a father’s involvement in the upbringing of a child. The aim of this research is to examine the involvement of fathers of preschool children in educational activities and household chores. 365 fathers of preschool children from all over the Republic of Croatia participated in the research. A comparison of the results with previous research has shown that the number of educational activities that partners perform equally is increasing, and that new fatherhood is slowly becoming real. The progress in doing household chores is the smallest because we still find the traditional division of work. Routine household chores such as cooking, washing, ironing, and cleaning remain the most common maternal task, as well as biological and pedagogical activities related to the upbringing and education of children.
