Abstract
Rad se fokusira na pojavi dvojezičnosti (bilingvizma) u djece predškolske dobi. Osim o određenju dvojezičnosti i vrstama dvojezičnosti, u radu se opisuje pojava dvojezičnosti u predškolskoj dobi, i što dvojezičnost predstavlja u procesu učenja i cjelovitog razvoja djeteta. Analiziraju se proturječni stavovi oko dobrobiti vladanja dvama ili više jezika u ranoj i predškolskoj dobi te se izražava mišljenje o mogućim znanstvenim promišljanjima u budućnosti. Rad je baziran na prikazu slučaja četvero bilingvalne djece. Malo istraživanje provedeno na uzorku osmero roditelja, pokazuje kako roditelji doživljavaju fenomen dvojezičnosti u predškolskoj dobi, koliko o njemu znaju i u kakvom jezičnom (govornom) okruženju odgajaju svoju djecu. Također, ističe se u kolikoj su mjeri roditelji svjesni prednosti i važnosti bilingvizma.
Abstract (english)
This thesis focuses on bilingualism in preschool children. It talks about the definition of bilingualism as different scientists see it, as well as types of bilingualism. The main point is the discussion on bilingualism in early and preschool age and how it affects the child’s development. Contradictory attitudes toward benefits of learning two or more languages in childhood are analyzed and opinions on possible scientific thoughts about bilingualism in future are expressed. The thesis is based on case studies of four bilingual children. Their parents’ attitudes and knowledge about bilingualism are shown, as well as the way they raise their children regarding language environment. . It is shown that the parents are aware of the relevance of being bilingual.
